GC and LC are extremely popular techniques that are used to monitor different chemicals in production processes. There is constant monitoring of incoming materials, in process materials, and finished goods for both desired and undesired compounds, where chromatography is the solution of choice. These chemical and petrochemical plants may be producing intermediates or finished products for shampoos, conditioners, lotions, hand sanitizers, toys, electronics, plastic goods, and many other products we use in our everyday lives.
Examples of applications:
- fatty acid profiles of soaps, shampoos, conditioners, and lotions
- Amino acid profiles of soaps, shampoos, conditioners, and lotions
- Performance chemicals (cleaning agents, emulsifiers) in health and beauty products
- Anti-bacterial compounds (alcohols) in hand sanitizers and soaps
- Carcinogenic compounds in consumer products
- Reaction monitoring (presence of starting materials and products in a reaction mixture)
- Hydrocarbon profiling of petrochemical raw materials and products used in polymer and plastics production
