GC-FID Columns

What columns can be used in the Lucidity GC-FID?

The beauty of the Lucidity GC-FID is that although it uses the proprietary column holder technology to allow the interchanging of GC columns like video game cartridges, it doesn’t require the use of proprietary, expensive consumables. Use any commonly available GC column (with very few limitations) and either install the column into Lucidity column holder yourself, or order it preinstalled on a column holder. You can also trim your columns as needed.

Any of the following types of columns will work in the Lucidity GC-FID

The following conditions outline what types of GC columns can be used in the Lucidity GC-FID.  It includes most types of commonly available columns.

UP TO 60M IN LENGTH (EXCEPT 0.53MM ID)

Any column up to 60m in length can be used except for larger diameter columns like 0.53mmID.  For 0.53mm ID columns, up to 30m columns can be used.

FUSED SILICA OR METAL CAPILLARY

You can choose from either fused silica or metal capillary columns to use in your Lucidity GC-FID.  Metal capillary columns are recommended due to their durability but either can be used.

ANY ID OR FILM THICKNESS

Any commonly available ID or film thickness of GC column can be used.

MUST BE WOUND TO SMALLER COIL DIAMETERS

The one unique thing about the columns is that they must be wound to smaller coil diameters (3.5 inch coil diameter), but these can be ordered as standard parts through column vendors.
