GC-FID Test Mix
This is 3 runs of a GC-FID Test Mix overlaid on top of each other to demonstrate repeatability of retention times and peak areas. This test mix was injected at 20ng in a 10:1 split so there is only 2 ng of each of the 3 compounds going onto the column (roughly 2ppm). The detection limits of the system are roughly 100ppb. The 3 compounds present in the sample are: (C12) n-Dodecane (112-40-3) (C14) n-Tetradecane (629-59-4) (C16) n-Hexadecane (544-76-3) More documentation on this mix can be found at: https://www.restek.com/catalog/view/33563 -
Xil-350 Test Mix
Analysis of Active Compounds (Restek Test Mix Xil-350) in the miniGC Introduction This test mix is used to test activity in the flow path, from the injection port all the way through to the detector. If there are too many active sites in the system, the peak shapes will be poor. This particular set of runs was also used to demonstrate repeatability of runs with respect to retention times and peak areas as well as comparability to results from a traditional GC when using the same method and essentially the same column (we replace the fused silica column with its metal capillary version so that the column can be wound in a smaller radius to fit in the smaller miniGC oven). ... -
C7-C40 Saturated Alkanes
This shows 3 runs of the C7-C40 saturated alkanes standard in hexane. The sample is injected at 1000ng with a 100:1 split resulting in 10ng of each compound on column. The method starts at 40C and ramps to 400C to get each compound efficiently into the detector with good sharp peak shapes. Even at 10ng on column we are still able to see very strong peaks and good peak shapes for the C40 compound, which is very nonvolatile. The 3 run overlay shows the repeatability of the system with respect to retention time and peak area. Semivolatiles
This is the 8270 Standard from Restek that contains some commonly analyzed environmental compounds. The chromatogram shown matches the reference chromatogram that accompanies the standard, demonstrating that the miniGC is capable of resolving and detecting even less volatile compounds and that the detector response and sensitivity to different compounds matches that of traditional systems.
