In 2020 we introduced a completely reimagined GC, a GC that is significantly smaller, lighter, easier to use, and lower cost than any other fully functional GC available. And this completely shifted the entire market, shedding light that most people out there using GCs are doing fairly routine things with them, and what they want is simpler, more robust, smaller, lower cost systems with which to perform their analysis.
In 2021, we followed our GC introduction with the introduction of our LC, a significantly smaller, lighter, easier to use, and lower cost fully functional LC system. And this system has had an equally large impact on the market.
Now in 2025, we’re introducing the latest major step forward for chromatography, the Lucidity GC-MS.
The Lucidity GC-MS is based on the same philosophy as our other systems. We strongly believe that there are many more people who need access to powerful analytical techniques who don’t have the budget, space, or expertise for these systems. So, we have designed a GC-MS from the ground up that is less than the price of a traditional GC-FID, is smaller in footprint than a traditional GC-FID, and is easier to use than a traditional GC-FID. We intend to bring GC-MS to a much larger audience, just like we have with GC and LC.
- We’ve designed our MS from the ground up and integrated it into our GC platform allowing us to keep costs under control and increasing the robustness of the system. We aren’t buying OEM components from other vendors and packaging them into our own solution, which increases size and footprint.
- We’ve fully integrated our MS into our GC, instead of the traditional approach of having 2 separate systems that can be linked up to each other. This decreases cost, increases durability and reliability, and decreases size.
- We have incorporated several design elements that help minimize the amount of exposure the guts of the mass spec have to the outside environment, which significantly increases reliability and decreases analysis issues. Just as the average driver really shouldn’t open up the engine of their car frequently without expecting performance issues, the average mass spec user shouldn’t open up the guts of their mass spec frequently without expecting issues. Anyone who’s ever run a mass spec knows the best way to keep them running and getting dependable results is to keep them under vacuum and running, minimizing the time the system is opened up with inexperienced users handling the parts inside.
- We have minimized the volume under vacuum while still utilizing a full sized quadrupole, which results in much faster pump downs, much lower power consumption by the pumps, smaller, lower cost pumps, and a much quieter system.
- Our system incorporates a standard sized single quadrupole mass spectrometer, which produces results comparable to traditional single quad GC-MSs on the market.
We warned you we were going to blow your minds in 2020 when we introduced the Lucidity GC, and we warned you again in 2021 when we introduced the Lucidity LC. Now we’re completing reimagining GC-MS without affecting the core functionality.
